Heading 1
Our volunteers
We rely on volunteers twice a day, everyday to ensure the needs of the pigs and other residents are always met. This includes being part of a rota so that the pigs have routine and around the clock care.
Our daily volunteers feed the pigs each morning and evening, make sure they have access to fresh water at all times and clean up any mess they have made! They replace bedding, wash up, care for any injured pigs and most importantly provide them with lots of tummy rubs and attention.

Maintenance in the Wood
We hold maintenance days at Pigs in the Wood which involves a lot of hard work from our team of volunteers. The work we carry out includes:
-
Building, repairing, cleaning and refurbishing the pig's shelters
-
Creating structures to aid our work
-
Clearing and creating safe paths for visitors
-
Painting and waterproofing
-
Improving water drainage
-
Preparing for winter months
-
Generally improving the environment for the pigs and other residents
The maintenance days are a great way to meet new people, be part of a team and to support a fantastic cause. There is always tasks that will suit all skill sets and anyone is welcome - even having someone to distract the pigs whilst work is carried out to keep them out of harms way is a big help!

Other ways to get involved
There are many ways you can get involved and support Pigs in the Wood, even if you are not local to us. If you have a particular skill set in graphic design, web design, veterinary care or photography please get in touch with us and let us know! Even if you simply have a love for pigs you can assist us at events or help to promote the sanctuary.

If you would like to join our other volunteers please email us at pigsinthewood@yahoo.com. Please note under 16 year olds must be accompanied by a responsible adult when volunteering.
